The ancestral home of this family was to be replanned, a verandah was to be added and a new cottage was to be constructed.
The clients were open and receptive to the integration of various kinds of Artistic elements to the design. Old mangalore roof tiles were used as wall cladding for the verandah. Patterns made using broken tiles were planned for the flooring.
Stained glass windows, fribre optic translucent concrete, plaster imprinting are all going to be tried out in this project.
Old discarded mangalore tiles were repurposed as decorative wall cladding. Initially smaller scale experiments were done to test fixing methods, strength and interlocking. Work on this cladding has now begun on site.
A combination of repurposed broken tiles and colourful cut tiles pieces were used to create a patterened flooring for the verandah.
